Character Name: Luchino Gregoretti
Canon: Lucky Dog 1
AU/OC/Previous Game: canon
Age: 27
Appearance:
Tall and handsome, Luchino is a pretty classy guy. His good looks are repeatedly commented upon in the game, and he does his best to maintain them, wearing only the highest quality clothing if he can find it. This happens to be in the form of a three piece suit with a long jacket on his way in. He has wavy, chin-length coral-pink hair which he wears clipped back into a half ponytail or pulled up into a full ponytail. He has two distinguishing marks on his person: a CR:5 tattoo on his right hand and a scar across his right cheek.
Cause of Death: Sniped on his way to a meeting with the other capos. He was shot in the head with a hunting rifle while he was sitting in his car.
Impact of Death: “... Strafottuto! Brutto figlio di puttana!” Deep breath, and then pulls out cigarettes to start smoking. Broody and irritatable mostly. Death is something he’s prepared for as a member of CR:5, but there’s concern about what it means for the rest of the family.

Character Info:
If a person were to read Luchino’s character at the face value, he would seem a flirtatious cad and pretty boy who likes to hit on blondes. This read of his personality isn’t wrong since that’s exactly how he wants to be seen. He fronts well as a perfect capo, a leader to be looked up to and admired, and a womanizer. It’s not wrong at all. It’s just not the whole truth.
Luchino is a man who hides a lot of pain, doubt, and self-loathing behind his facades of a good man. Most of his problems stem from a clash with a rival group (GD) two years prior to the events told in the main canon. During this bloody clash, there were a lot of lives lost including civilians, and it was during this time that his wife (a blond) died under questionable circumstances, gunned down by the cops. He was angry with her at the time because of some betrayal, and he wasn’t around to protect her. To make things worse, his young daughter had been with his wife when she was killed so he lost both of them at the same moment. Because of how their deaths came to be shushed and shunted aside in the conclusion of the fighting with the GD, he came to doubt the Boss of CR:5 and began to suspect his involvement in their death. This was even more painful betrayal of trust and a difficult doubt to handle since not only is he doubting the Boss of his family, but he’s also doubting his own father and believing him capable of sacrificing his own daughter-in-law and grandchild.
In his arc of the game, the rival group starts a slander campaign against Luchino. Throwing out in public areas that his wife and daughter were killed, that he wasn't able to protect them, that he was the one who killed them, that really bad things could have happened to them because he had sacrificed them for his own sake. (His arc’s bad end has him dying at Gian's hands as he goes through a completely emotional breakdown and turns to drugs and alcohol because of this. Oops.)
Essentially he's someone with very deep emotional wounds and very bad ways of dealing with them: sex, drugs, alcohol, violence, and repression. However, he is a good businessman, too. He looks the part of a mafia leader. He's very refined and deals well with people. He's compassionate and understanding but also calculating and very aware of how to work the system and others' emotions. He takes Gian under his wing to show him the ropes of being a good leader. He makes him BATHE (heaven forbid), makes him dress appropriately, and takes him on his rounds about the city to get to know the different businesses they are associated with. He takes him to his very high class brothel and gambling den and sets him up for a good evening. Basically, he begins to teach Gian the ropes of being a Capo and the future Boss of CR:5.
Luchino and Gian eventually raid the GD headquarters and confront the current Boss of CR:5 who has been taken captive by them. Everything Luchino has been bottling up about his doubts and the deaths of his wife and daughter come out at this point, and while the Boss is disappointed in him he finally gets Luchino to understand that their deaths really were just an unfortunate accident. It’s a very cathartic moment (at probably a really bad time, but hey) and Luchino finally finds a painful peace to let his grief and doubt go.
In this version of events (one of two good ends for Luchino), Gian goes on to become the boss of the CR:5 in order to learn more about the events in Luchino’s life from the previous Boss, and Luchino readily accepts him as the new leader having learned to respect and trust him during their time together. They were casual lovers during the time leading up to the rescue of the Boss, and Luchino is comfortably familiar with Gian without being caught up in the “lovers” aspect of their relationship (this is not the good end where they run off to the Caribbean together). He would undoubtedly accept a continuation of their physical relationship, but he was gunned down a few months after Gian’s ascension to Boss.
In short, Luchino operates on a lot of different levels. His playboy facade is the one he prefers to be seen by, but he’s someone who has a lot of things moving beneath the surface without trusting a lot of people to know about them.
Abilities (after Powercap):
Charming bastard.
Drug dealer.
Pimp.
Good with all types of guns apparently (handguns, shotguns, machine guns) circa 1930s.
Adept at torture/interrogation.
… Basically, this is notes to self because he’s pretty vanilla mortal. Every skill he has is something anyone could learn given time and incentive so nothing is really getting capped, I think.
Items Brought In:
sub-machine gun in a violin case
a pretty classy cigarette case with lighter

You must do one of any of the following four:
Third person sample on the subject of your choice.
He cursed; the words rolling off his tongue for a full minute straight. He fell silent though as he lit a cigarette and the words continued on in the back of his mind as he took a long drag trying to control the anger and frustration. He looked around as he did, noting features of this place. A strange jumbled collection of items, looking like a junk shop. The high windows letting the sunshine in held his attention next. He took several long drags on the cigarette letting the familiar gesture and the nicotine calm his nerves. None of the plants outside looked familiar and the trees were larger than most of the buildings back home.
He lit another cigarette from the first and dropped the spent butt to the ground, snubbing it out with the toe of one expensive shoe. He shook his right wrist slightly, loosening the gold wrist watch, so he could glance at the time. He grimaced at the spray of blood across the face of the watch and pulled a handkerchief out to wipe it clean, cursing silently the bloodstains on the silk cloth. If it was still correct, it had been fifteen minutes since his death. If he closed his eyes, he could still feel the startling impact to the back of his skull, and he easily filled in the rest of the details -- the spray of blood, brains, and bone fragments across the inside of his car -- from previous experience being on the other end of the bullet.
Fifteen minutes then. He had arrived to the meeting place twenty minutes ahead of schedule to make sure the area was clear. The others would be arriving soon, looking for the signal he was supposed to give. Depending on how they left his body in the car, they may not even get close enough to look. Bernardo would be first. If it was just a single hit and not a trap for the other capos, then he would have the area secured in minutes. If it was a trap...
He lit another cigarette and threw the butt away with a furious gesture, not caring this time if it smoldered in the unfamiliar room. No matter what this hell was, it didn’t matter. He was beyond helping them. He had been too careless. He closed his eyes, crossing himself briefly.
